AVATAR’ IS RETURNING TO IMAX THEATERS

Ahead of the release of the years-in-the-making sequel Avatar: The Way of Water, James Cameron’s original Avatar is returning to theaters. And if you want to watch it on the big screen, you will have a lot of different ways to do it. The film will be showing in 3D, in Dolby Cinemas, and — if you want a really big look at the world of Pandora — the film will be back in IMAX as well.

Now if you just want to refresh your memory about the film before The Way of Water, the film is widely available on home video. But Avatar was designed as an epic big-screen experience. And the print for this re-release has been remastered in 4K. So it’s going to look a lot better (not to mention way bigger) back in a theater than it will on your television or laptop.
Here is a trailer for Avatar’s IMAX re-release:

Avatar stars Sam Worthington, Stephen Lang, Zoe Saldana, , Joel David Moore, Giovanni  Dileep Rao, and Weaver, all of whom will reappear in the sequel (although some will be in new roles). If you can get a true IMAX with the really enormous screen and booming sound system, there’s really nothing else like it in the world of modern movies.

Avatar returns to theaters (including IMAX) on September 23. The first of four upcoming sequels: Avatar: The Way of Water, is scheduled to open exclusively in theaters on December 16.

10 ACTORS WHO WERE WAY OLDER THAN THEIR CHARACTERS
1. Emma Thompson in Sense and Sensibility
Columbia Pictures

Emma Thompson in Sense and Sensibility

Based on the Jane Austen novel of the same name, Sense and Sensibility features a roster of powerhouse talent including Emma Thompson, Kate Winslet, Alan Rickman, and Hugh Grant. Speaking of Thompson, did you know that she was 35 years old when she played 19-year-old Elinor ? Her performance is entirely convincing, and anyone who hadn’t seen the actress before might have believed she really was a teen.
2. Corey Monteith in Glee
Fox

2. Corey Monteith in Glee
I don’t know about you, but no one in my high school glee club had the voice or moves of Corey Monteith. His character of Finn in the Fox series Glee is supposed to be 16 years old, but Monteith was 27 years old at the time of filming. In fact, Monteith was only a couple years younger than Matthew Morrison, who played the students’ teacher Will . That’s why it always felt like Finn was closer to Mr. than the other students — and eventually, Finn even agreed to help him run the glee club.
3. Andrew Garfield in The Amazing Spider-Man
Columbia Pictures

3. Andrew Garfield in The Amazing Spider-Man
During The Amazing Spider-Man, Peter Parker is supposed to be 17 years old. However, Andrew Garfield was 29 at the age of filming. In the Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter is graduating high school — at this point, Garfield was 31. All dressed up in his cap and gown, Garfield honestly pulls off the high school senior look. He is Spider-Man, after all, so it makes sense that he stands out a bit from the others.
4. Tom Welling in Smallville
The WB

4. Tom Welling in Smallville
Based on DC Comics’ Superman, Smallville ran for 10 seasons on The WB and The CW. Tom Welling starred as a high school version of Clark Kent. The thing is, Welling was 24 when he first started playing the role. Welling gives a great performance, but we can’t shake the fact that this is a fully grown man whom we are supposed to believe is a young teen. Maybe his Earth age didn’t reflect his Krypton age?
5. Gabrielle sin Beverly Hills: 90210
Fox
5. Gabrielle  in Beverly Hills: 90210
The ’90s school drama Beverly Hills: 90210 was guilty of casting several actors in their mid-to-late twenties as teenagers, but perhaps the most obvious example was their decision to cast Gabrielle  as Andrea  Carteris was 29 at the time of shooting, even though her character was roughly 16. Nonetheless,  pulled it off — it even helped that Angela was a high schooler who was wise beyond her years.
6. Florence Pugh in Little Women
Columbia Pictures

6. Florence Pugh in Little Women
In Greta Gerwig’s charming adaptation of Little Women, Florence Pugh plays the role of plucky 13-year-old Amy March. Being the youngest sister, Amy has a predilection to being vain and spoiled — but she’s also tasked with keeping the family afloat. Pugh’s performance is pitch-perfect, regardless of the fact that she was in her early 20s at the time of filming. Pugh was well-known enough at the time for people to know that she wasn’t actually a teenager — anyone who also saw that year’s could figure that out for themselves.
7. Darren Barnett in Never Have I Ever
Netflix

7. Darren Barnett in Never Have I Ever
When Mindy Kaling’s laugh-out-loud high school comedy Never Have I Ever first started filming, Darren Barnett was 28 years old — making him a good 11 years older than his teenage heartthrob character Paxton Hall-. Even though Paxton is supposed to be a grade older than the other characters, he looks ... much older. To address this, there’s a running joke throughout the show that refers to the fact that Paxton is no average high schooler. He’s great-looking, athletic, and has none of the telltale signs of teenage awkwardness. While it may be a bit hard to suspend disbelief — did anyone’s high school have someone who looked like that? — it’s definitely forgivable.
8. The Entire Cast of Grease
Paramount Pictures

8. The Entire Cast of Grease
It’s no secret that the entire cast of “high schoolers” in the movie musical Grease was older than the written characters. John Travolta was 23, Olivia Newton-John was 29, and Channing was 33 — the oldest member of the main cast. Although high school may have been long behind them, their charisma and charm made up for it. Not to mention, they made being a teenager look so cool.
9. Henry Winkler in Happy Days
ABC

9. Henry Winkler in Happy Days
When Henry Winkler started playing 19-year-old Fonzie in the ABC comedy Happy Days, he was 28 years old. The thing about classic sitcom comedies is, the characters don’t really age like people do in real life. By the end of the show’s 11-season run, Fonzie’s character was still 19 years old — but Winkler was pushing 40. While it might have been unconventional for a near 40-year-old to play a teenager, it’s just a testament to Happy Days’ — and Winkler’s — long-running successes.
10. Nicola in Derry Girls
Channel Four

10. Nicola in Derry Girls
Channel 4’s uproariously funny comedy Derry Girls has so many memorable characters, but we especially love Clare Devlin — played by Nicola . Although Clare is 16 years old in the first season of the show, was 31 at the time of filming. Essentially, that means Coughlan’s character is roughly half her age. is entirely convincing in her performance, somehow able to channel the energy of a real teenager with total ease.
